Where Is the Afterlife? The Radio Frequency Explanation
Where is the afterlife? From what spirits have shown me, it is not a physical place you travel to when you die. It is a different frequency.
Earth has its own frequency, and the afterlife has another. A soul does not need to travel a great distance to reach it. What changes is the frequency the soul is able to hold.
Why "where" may be the wrong question
Most of us imagine the afterlife as a destination: somewhere above us, beyond us, or very far away.
I think a radio is a more useful way to understand it.
Imagine that life on earth is one station. Let's call it 96.2 FM. While you are living in a human body, you are tuned to that station. Your body is the receiver that allows you to experience this frequency.
Another station can exist in the same room without being heard. It isn't absent. The radio is simply not tuned to receive it.
That's how I understand the relationship between earth and the afterlife.
How does the radio frequency analogy work?
When someone dies, the soul doesn't disappear. It is no longer held by the physical body, but it may remain close to earth's frequency for a period of time.
This helps explain why some souls stay near familiar people and places immediately after death. They may attend their own funeral, visit loved ones, or remain close while they adjust to what has happened.
Eventually, the soul is given the choice to cross. If earth is 96.2, we might imagine the afterlife as 100.3. Crossing is not necessarily movement across a physical distance. It is a shift from one frequency to another.
The stations can occupy the same space while remaining distinct. A human body is built to receive one of them. A crossed soul is able to exist on the other.
Why does a soul cross over?
A soul cannot remain indefinitely in the same relationship with the physical world once it is no longer living through a body.
Some souls resist crossing because they are frightened, confused, attached to someone, or unable to accept that they have died. But the frequency of the afterlife is where the soul is ultimately able to continue its journey.
Crossing isn't abandonment. It doesn't mean the soul stopped loving the people it left behind. It means the soul is no longer trying to remain within a frequency it was never meant to hold forever without a body.
Can you still sense someone after they have crossed?
Yes.
A different frequency is not the same thing as nonexistence. The people we love have not been erased simply because our physical senses cannot receive them in the same way.
Right before someone crosses, their frequency is often still close enough to earth's that connection can feel strong, even startling. A medium learns to adjust their own frequency enough to perceive information from spirits. Other people may experience brief moments of connection through a dream, a familiar scent, a song, a sensation, or a sign that arrives with unmistakable timing.
I wouldn't say every unusual event is a message. But I also wouldn't dismiss an experience simply because it can't be explained through the five physical senses.
Does the afterlife have a physical location?
Not in the way we usually mean location.
I don't experience it as "up," nor as a place that exists at the end of a long journey through space. It is closer to another layer of existence, present, but outside the range our bodies are normally able to perceive. It is just another dimension that exists all around us.
That can feel strange at first. It can also be comforting. The people we love may not be as far away as the language of death makes them seem.
What does this change about "where they went"?
When someone dies, we naturally ask where they have gone because separation feels like distance.
But a soul is larger than the physical life through which we knew it. Death does not reduce a person to somewhere else on a map. It releases the soul from the body and allows it to return to a fuller awareness of what it is.
The soul is vastly larger than the relationship you had with them, and it continues.
What does crossing over actually look like?
The frequency analogy helps explain how earth and the afterlife can exist in relation to one another. But the experience of crossing is not mechanical.
Spirits describe light, choice, loved ones waiting, and guides helping the soul through what comes next. There is a process of review, healing, and reunion.
That deserves its own explanation, because what happens when we die is much more than simply changing stations.
