What Reading Energy Actually Means (It's Not About Seeing Colors)

Reading energy means perceiving the movement, the thickness, and the shape of what a person is carrying, and receiving it without rushing to interpret it. You don't need to see colors to do it.

Isn't reading energy about auras and colors?

Colors are one possible language of energy. They're not the goal. Some people perceive energy as color, and even then the meanings are personal: red, for me, is inflammation in the body, not anger. If you memorize a chart that says red means this and purple means that, you've learned a chart, not a skill.

And here's the trap: if you attach yourself to the colors, you miss the message underneath them. The color was only ever the envelope.

What energy actually feels like

Energy has movement. It has thickness. It has shape. When you learn to perceive somebody, you'll notice their energy shifts and moves with their emotions, their sensations, and what they're thinking. That is why energy does not lie. I've watched a person tell me one thing while their energy told me something else, and when the two don't match, you can trust what you're perceiving: something is off.

The real skill: receiving, not interpreting

The hardest part of reading energy is not perception. It's discipline. The moment something comes through, your mind wants to build a story around it. The training is to receive what is there, exactly as it is, and to get yourself out of the way so you can be a clear conduit. No embroidery, no guessing, no filling in the gaps with your imagination.

This is the foundation I spend weeks on with my students, because everything else they'll ever do rests on it.

Whose energy is it: yours or theirs?

If you're sensitive, your first job is learning to tell your own emotions from everybody else's. This is the number one thing I hear from people who find me: I absorb everything, and I don't know what is mine and what is not. I hear you. The answer is unglamorous and it works: keep your own side of the street clean. Know your own state before you reach out to read anyone else's, so that what you perceive has somewhere clean to land.

And for the record, your own energy field is layered: part of it you were born with, and part of it reacts to your life. Nobody's aura is a finished masterpiece. As I like to tell my students, no one is getting enlightened here. We're just getting clearer.

Can anyone learn this?

If you're the person who walks into a room and knows something happened before anyone speaks, you're already reading energy. What you're missing is not a gift. It's structure, practice, and someone to tell you honestly when you're receiving and when you're inventing.

That is exactly what my seven week mentorship is for: people who already sense more than they can explain and want to train it in a grounded, ethical room: learn more here. I'm sending you a lot of love.
